Imani Rousselle

Sunday Singers' Salon | Sunday June 2, 2024 6pm-7:30pm

Imani Rousselle is a Texas-born singer who has skills beyond her years when it comes to interpreting and delivering the healing powers of song. Whether covering jazz standards or performing her own contemporary compositions, the voice within Imani invites you to follow along as they fill the space between the silence with carefully crafted sound.

Imani currently resides in New York City, where she recently completed her master's degree in jazz voice at The Manhattan School of Music. Prior to moving to NYC, Imani studied at Columbia College Chicago where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Vocal performance as well as a minor in management and a second minor in environmental studies .

While in Chicago, Imani performed many stages around the city, both under her own name and as a member of their shared band with Jackson Shepard, Human Bloom. These stages include the legendary Jazz Showcase and The Green Mill among others. Since moving to New York just before the shut down, Imani has been blessed with opportunities to perform on stages such as the world famous Dizzy's Jazz Club, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Smalls Jazz Club, and The 55 bar, alongside great musicians like Casey Benjamin, Stefon Harris, Sean Jones, and Jon Faddis. Imani's musical style exists outside of genre lines as she is deeply influenced by musics ranging from romantic symphonies, and bluegrass to spirituals and ragas. Wherever Imani Rousselle goes next, she looks forward to diversifying her sonic palette and delivering an aural healing to her audience that will linger beyond the time shared at any venue.
